A Season to Give Thanks

Sorry…I went MIA…again!

What happened? (♪ dun dun DUN! ♪) Life. It happened to me again!

I’ve just gotten stuck in survival mode for the past few weeks. After my last post, I came down with a pretty nasty *something* (flu? severe cold? not sure…it wasn’t bronchitis, THAT I know for sure!) that had me dizzy, coughing up a lung, without a voice, and totally nauseous at one point. But I got over it after taking 2 days off from work and sitting out on all Halloween festivities this year (booooooo)…and somehow, I look up and it’s already nearly THANKSGIVING!!!

I really love Thanksgiving. I love everything about this holiday. The food, family gatherings, crisp air and clear skies with the occasional smattering of rain…love it, love it, LOVE IT!

What I especially love about Thanksgiving is that — for me — it is a time to consider all that is GOOD in my life, and to give thanks to God for all the ways He has blessed me throughout the year. I mean, really, you should be able to do this all year long, but if you haven’t been able to count your blessings, or if like me, you’ve been thrown more than a few curve balls at different points in the year, this holiday sort of forces you to do so.

But I know that I have SO much to be thankful for.

My life has changed and is changing in ways that I couldn’t have fathomed, and I know that it will continue to evolve in ways that I can’t imagine. How AWEsome. And though it hasn’t been easy at times, I have had so much love and support to sustain me from my amazing network of loved ones that, ultimately, I know I’ll be alright.

We’ve already begun what I consider to be the “slide into homeplate” — namely, the countdown to the new year! But amid the busy-ness of our lives during the holidays, let’s not forget the reason for the season. Personally, I have yet to decide on what to make to take over to my boyfriend’s cousin’s house on Thursday night (eek!), but it’ll be A o-kay! I’m looking forward to all that is to come this holiday season, what with meeting more of my boyfriend’s extended family, spending time with my own, celebrating life, and all that is to come in the new year! I am so so SO thankful to God for giving me so much abundance in my life.
